A new feature that consists of my take on small news items involves my teams. These are topics that I don’t feel are column worthy, but I still feel like writing about.
This edition features my thoughts on the Colorado Avalanche signing Matt Duchene to an extension and the Oklahoma City Thunder getting something for Kevin Martin and looking to sign Mike Miller.
Thoughts on the Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Summer League run, which concluded with winning the Orlando championship.
A preview of what the Oklahoma City Thunder might do at the NBA draft.
Welcome everyone to the very first annual NBA Mock Draft by Dustin James here at the MAN CAVE! The “King of the Man Cave” (or “Jeremy Lambert” as some people call him) recently asked me if I could put together an NBA mock draft for the blog since I do consider myself a “draft guru” in both the NBA and the NFL drafts. I don’t know why, but when draft time rolls around I become obsessed with any and all information regarding the draft. Unlike the NFL Draft, the NBA Draft is extremely special because it really only takes the addition of one superstar to change the layout of your team. Last year for instance, by drafting the NBA Rookie of the Year Damian Lillard, the Portland Trailblazers has set themselves up nicely for the future with a core of Lillard, LaMarcus Aldridge, Nic Batum, and Wesley Matthews. If Portland can score another superstar with the 10th pick in this draft, the Blazers should not only see a return to the playoffs, but they could actually win their first playoff series in some time. Unfortunately for a team like Portland, it’s hard for them to improve in free agency because Portland isn’t exactly a city that NBA players are dying to live in. Therefore the draft becomes even more important because it becomes the only way a team like the Blazers can nab an elite talent.
