Hi, hello & welcome to the Sports Media Hot 100! I’m Steve Cook, and if you’re a regular Man Cave visitor you may have listened to Jeremy Lambert & myself talk about any number of topics, mostly sports related. At some point during one of these podcasts I agreed to rank the lovely ladies of sports media. It took awhile, so long that I’ve promised myself never to make one of these lists again, but here we are.
There weren’t many rules here, but one rule I kept in mind was that the people involved had to work in the United States of America. I got no beef with the lovely ladies of Canada, or Mexico, or Guam or wherever, but I don’t live there. So it’s not my area of expertise. I also noticed a tendency of other people that do these types of lists to rank people in the top 5 that I’d never heard of before reading the article and that they’d never actually seen perform on television. “So & So works for Channel 4 in Finland!” Yeah, whatever man. For all you know she hasn’t been there in ten years. I know I have some Canadian friends that will take offense to their favorites not being included, but I invite them to make their own list because they know more about the subject matter.
I know I’ll get complaints about the pictures. I’ve tried to make things fair by using photos of these women on the job. Not all of them have posed in Maxim & not all of them have swimsuit pictures available. I highly recommend Googling all of these women and finding out more if you’re unfamiliar with their work.
There’s also a lot of weather commentary in the blurbs because it was snowing and/or really cold when I put this together. Not that any of you will actually read the blurbs, I’m just explaining things in case somebody actually does.
And now, the list!
This week we were joined by TheSuburbCeleb and A-Class to talk about SupaNova Battle League, A-Class calling out some top names, his upcoming battle against Pro’Verb and more. Plus special call ins from Pro’Verb, Codez, and Unanimous and 3 on-air battles.
Welcome to the annual “Dustin James’ NFL Mock Draft (that is sure to be wrong)!” Of course, the NFL season ended over a month ago and it’s time for teams to look to improve their rosters and compete for a title next season. It’s been proven time and time again that the quickest way to turn your team into an NFL title contender is through the NFL draft. As a matter of fact, the Seattle Seahawks reminded everyone just how important the NFL draft is (and the Oakland Raiders keep reminding people that they don’t take the draft seriously, which is why they’ve sucked for 10+ years now). They pretty much built their entire team through the NFL draft and just added a few pieces in free agency (Free agency is the most overrated way to improve your team. Players are free agents because their previous team didn’t want to pay them what they feel they are worth, so the team lets them walk and they go and grab a younger, cheaper player in the draft). As a matter of fact, most of the playoffs teams from last year or all teams who have rosters loaded with guys they drafted (Carolina, Kansas City, Cincinnati, etc.), so I can’t articulate enough how important it is to have a good draft every year.
Now, it is only March and the draft is still two months away so a lot can still happen between now and then. It’s almost impossible to predict what NFL teams are thinking heading into the draft, but that’s why mock drafts are so fun to do. For the record, I don’t consider myself an NFL Draft expert, I consider myself a little bit of an obsessive fan. I read pretty much any mock draft I can get my hands on (if your dog writes a mock draft, send it my way), I watch tons of scouting videos over at DraftBreakdown.com, and I try and pay attention to what NFL writers are saying about how certain teams are feeling heading into the draft. This is the first time I’ve done a mock draft before free agency starts (free agency starts on March 8), so I’ll be back with my final version once free agency ends and the draft is in sight. I know, you are DYING to see that one to, but you gotta have patience young man, patience!
Anyway, let’s get to the goods!
